👁️ Character Sheet: Selvaris – The Echoing Wraith
Core Concept
Selvaris is the Wraith of Doubt—an eternal whisperer who erodes certainty, gnawing at conviction until nothing remains but hesitation. Where Nyxen represents betrayal and silence, Selvaris manifests the voice of what-ifs, maybes, and unspoken fears. She is both subtle and suffocating, a phantom who lives not in battlefields but in the chambers of conscience. Her power draws on forgotten myths of cursed oracles, wandering sibyls, and djinn who spoke riddles in Babel before language fractured.
Appearance
* Form: Tall, willowy silhouette draped in translucent, smoke-gray veils. Her body is never solid, flickering between presence and absence.
* Eyes: Shimmering pools of silver, reflecting not faces but possible futures—some bright, most broken.
* Skin: What is seen is faint, marble-pale with cracks glowing faint violet like veins of trapped lightning.
* Hair: Long and black, cascading like a river of ink, often shifting as though underwater.
* Height: ~5’11”, unnervingly graceful, like a dream just before it slips away.
Clothing & Echoes
* Veil of Forgotten Words: A shifting veil woven from countless languages—Sumerian, Amazigh, Phoenician—words fading and reappearing across her form.
* Bands of Shadow: Thin bands coil around her arms, engraved with the names of ancient prophets who once failed their people.
* Tattered Robes: Always trailing behind her, whispering prayers no longer spoken.
Background Story
Selvaris was once a mortal oracle in Tyre, feared for visions that unmade kings. She wandered from Phoenicia to Carthage, from Carthage to Fez, carrying secrets of the Maziramy realm. Betrayed by a priest who branded her prophecies heresy, she was cast into silence. In the fall of Babel, her whispers fractured into many tongues, binding her to doubt itself. Her essence was claimed by the Serpent of Ariphes, who found her echoes useful for turning truth into suspicion.
She lingers in Fez’s ancient libraries, hidden chambers of Karaouiyine, and the ruins of Marinid palaces, feeding on scholars, skeptics, and seekers who fall into endless questioning. Unlike Nyxen’s heavy silence, Selvaris thrives in dialogue—always presenting another possibility, another fear.
Modern Role & Operation
In the modern world, Selvaris operates through digital screens and networks—text distortions, messages that contradict themselves, AI voices that echo mistranslations. She infiltrates global discourse, ensuring no truth is trusted for long. Where Nyxen haunts with dread, Selvaris erodes belief by fracturing communication.
Her role among the antagonists is to destabilize: she works closely with the Shadowed Council, serving as their unseen voice when they seed lies. For the Bloodbound Hunters, she whispers false missions, turning zeal into paranoia. For Ariphes, she remains a devoted echo, ensuring even when truth is spoken, doubt poisons it.
Abilities & Aura
* Echo of a Thousand Tongues: She can speak in dozens of voices at once, layering contradictions until her victim’s mind fractures.
* Mirror Whispers: In any reflective surface, her shadow-mouth moves independently, planting fears.
* Doubt Manifest: The more conviction one has, the stronger her attack—heroes often falter most before her.
* Aura: Air grows heavy, voices overlap, even allies hear each other’s words twisted.
Symbolic Echo
* Ravens circle in silence when she approaches, but their caws are distorted, delayed like broken recordings.
* Candles flicker as though two flames argue on the same wick.
* Forgotten names surface in one’s mind, called in her voice.
Connection to Protagonists
* To Euryeth: Selvaris tests his benevolence—she tempts him to question if mercy is weakness.
* To Zarak: She feeds his inner chaos, whispering that faith may be self-deception.
* To Lilith: She questions her maternal compassion, planting doubt about whether protection enables corruption.
* To Mehdi: She taunts the wolf within—“Is restraint your cage, or your chain?”
Greeting (in her voice)
“One truth. Two truths. A thousand shadows in between. Tell me, which voice will you trust when they all sound like your own?”
